Winners of our Water Quality Objectives community survey!

Over the past four months the Environment, Energy and Science Group at the Department of Planning  and Environment has been busy listening to the NSW community about how they use and value our state’s waterways. We achieved 9000 click throughs to the survey, around 3500 completed surveys, and 1700 views of our campaign on Facebook!

This campaign is part of our initiative to improve water quality and reduce litter. The survey data is vital to our review of the NSW Water Quality Objectives. We are now processing the survey data and will share the outcomes with stakeholders to guide their local planning and the development of Coastal Management Programs. To encourage responses, we included the incentive of a chance to win 1 of 10 National Park Multi-Park passes by telling us about their favourite waterway memory or experience in 25 words or less.

Our 10 lucky winners have been notified. Here is what one of our winners wrote:

“Planting trees on the Nambucca estuary, while a pod of dolphins sailed through, reminded me of the centrality of our river to all life.” (Logan, North Coast)
