First evaluation completed for 10-year Strategy
An independent evaluation has found that short-term outcomes are being met by the NSW Government’s 10-year Marine Estate Management Strategy and strong foundations have been laid for future success.
The evaluation found:
- projects were largely delivered on schedule, with some delays due to unexpected challenges (bushfires, floods, COVID-19 pandemic and government changes)
- the Strategy is critical for delivering and communicating integrated outcomes for the marine estate, communities and industries
- collaboration, delivery processes and governance are strong and identified opportunities to enhance these
- funding uncertainty is a significant barrier to effective delivery of the Strategy.
Thirteen recommendations will be implemented to ensure management is effective and adaptive. This ensures long-term outcomes are met and community benefits realised.
This is the first of three evaluations planned to measure the Strategy’s progress. A mid-term evaluation is due to commence in 2023 and the final evaluation expected to commence in 2027.
