Marine parks have been established in NSW since 1998 to protect and conserve the biodiversity of our coast and marine environment for everyone to enjoy.

These parks conserve all the habitats and plants, animals and other life found within them. They are also there for our enjoyment, recreation, education and scientific research, keeping the estuaries and oceans of NSW healthy and productive into the future.

A new approach to marine park management

The NSW Government is developing a network management plan for the five mainland marine parks using a new planning approach.

Stage 1 of the community consultation program ran from 1 November 2021 - 31 January 2022 to help finalise this plan. Opportunities to contribute to Stage 1 are now closed.
