Risk-based framework for regional waterway health
Overview
The Richmond River is highly valued by the community for the social, environmental and economic benefits it provides. The Richmond River catchment is the focus of several pilot projects under the Marine Estate Management Strategy.
This project aims to identify how government, industry and the community can work more effectively together to improve the ecological health of the Richmond River. Consideration for long-term and sustained funding is an integral part of the project.
This project will:
- investigate and identify a way for stakeholders to work together for the common goal of improving river health across the Richmond River catchment
- examine ways to enhance funding for this work both from public and private investment
- foster government agency collaboration with the community to meet these objectives
- promote alignment of relevant catchment planning and management activities with the Risk-based framework for considering waterway health outcomes in strategic land-use planning decisions.
