Overview

This project looks to deliver targeted funds to increase economic opportunities for Aboriginal people in the fishing and seafood industry via a statewide cultural fishing fund.

This project aligns and assists with achieving the objectives of the Aboriginal Fishing Trust Fund (AFTF) which provides grants and loans to improve, maintain and protect Aboriginal cultural fishing as well as helping Aboriginal communities to develop businesses associated with fisheries resources throughout NSW.

The AFTF was established under the Fisheries Management Act 1994 and involves the Aboriginal Fishing Advisory Council to advise on expenditure.

Applications for funds are assessed on their merits against set criteria.
