Improving project governance

Published 15 February 2023 Reviewing projects to determine where governance is embedded and identify gaps that need to be addressed.

Overview

Identify Marine Estate Management Strategy projects that have a governance component, identify any issues and gaps that need to be addressed.

What have we achieved so far?

An assessment of current Strategy projects has been completed to identify projects with a governance component or those that will reduce red tape across all the Strategy initiatives for the 2022-2024 implementation period.

This analysis found that out of a total of 94 Strategy projects, 14 projects (15%) contributed to reducing red tape and 32 projects (31%) improved
aspects of governance in the marine estate.

This follows a previous assessment for 2020-21, which reported 28 red-tape projects (26%) and 34 projects with governance improvements (31%) out of a total of 109 Strategy projects.
