Overview

The audit will review commercial dredging and sand extraction approvals within the NSW marine estate. The information collected will include the:

  • number of licences issued
  • location of licenced activities
  • type and volume of material extracted
  • extraction rate
  • term of licence
  • terms of approval
  • environmental monitoring requirements.

The audit will identify approvals that are redundant or inconsistent with contemporary legislation. It will also identify ways to streamline the approval process under the Crown Land Management Act 2016 and improve monitoring, compliance and enforcement activities across agencies.
