Clean Coastal Catchments Blueberry Research Tunnels Open Day

Are you working in the horticulture industry on the NSW north coast?

Growers, agronomists, and scientists interested in clean, green, sustainable horticulture are invited to a Clean Coastal Catchments Research Open Day at the Wollongbar Primary Institute.

On Wednesday the 10th of April between 10 am and 1 pm, we’re throwing open the gates to our state-of-the-art blueberry research tunnels so you can find out what our CCC research team is up to.

Highlights will include a site tour of the tunnels and the automated hydroponic fertigation system used for research aimed at cutting nutrient waste for growers.

We’ll also show off the woodchip bioreactor and reedbed installed to consume excess nitrogen in wastewater flowing off the 300 blueberry plants at the research site.

When: Wednesday 10 April 2024:  10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Where: Wollongbar Primary Industries Institute, 1243 Bruxner Highway, Wollongbar 2477

By helping growers minimise nutrient waste from horticulture we are helping reduce the impact of nutrients on our waterways as well as cutting fertiliser costs.

Find out more and register for the Open Day on the Clean Coastal Catchments research website.

Clean Coastal Catchments Research is a Department of Primary Industries project funded via the NSW Marine Estate Management Strategy.
