Under Transport for NSW’s new Boating Access Dredging Program, local councils can apply for funding for dredging work to help ensure safe navigation of channels and entrances, particularly in regional areas, and promote recreational and commercial boating activities. The projects will create flow on benefits for tourism, marine-based businesses and local economies.

Transport for NSW’s $2 million Boating Access Dredging Program replaces the Rescuing our Waterways program, which was previously administered by Crown Lands.

The funding has been made available from the $205 million Maritime Infrastructure Stimulus Program which was announced in October last year.

The program will fund up to 75 per cent of the total project cost up to a maximum grant value of $500,000. All projects funded under the program must be completed within 18 months of securing funding. To enable projects to commence as soon as possible, applicants will be able to request up to 25 per cent of the grant value to be made available to them as soon as their conditions of grant document is finalised.

Applications close April 30, with successful applicants expected to be notified mid-year.
