Global Citizen Science Month is a time to recognise and celebrate the work of the citizen scientists in our community.

They play a critical role in advancing scientific research and protecting our environment.

From tracing marine species movements to uncovering hidden plastic, everyday people are making important scientific contributions.

Here in NSW, citizen scientists are helping unravel the mysteries of the marine estate.

We showcased some fantastic citizen science projects on our Marine Estate Instagram page throughout the month of April, from the Great Nurdle Hunt to Monitoring Marine Species on the Move.

The NSW Marine Estate Management Strategy supports a wide range of Citizen Science projects through funding support and partnerships with State Government and other agencies. All play a significant role in the management of the marine estate.

If you are interested in marine estate Citizen Scientist opportunities, visit our website or take a look at the Citizen Science posts on our Instagram account to find out more.
