Sharing the science behind the sea at AMSA 2022

Group of people in front of water all wearing lanyards

Delegates from across Australia and the globe converged on Cairns last week to share the science behind managing our precious oceans at the Australian Marine Sciences Association Conference (AMSA2022).

Australian Marine Sciences Association Conference was a fantastic opportunity for our staff involved to share their advancements in knowledge and practice as well as connect with marine scientists from across Australia.

Here is some of our research that was presented at AMSA2022:

  • Inspiring citizen scientists to reconnect with and restore our lost shellfish reef
  • Impacts of severe flooding on kelp health and recovery
  • Climate change threats to Australian kelp
  • Assessing and predicting the recovery and loss of endangered seagrass
  • What to research, why and where: Marine Estate Management Strategy research/management prioritisation for the Greater Sydney Region
  • Tracking impacts to endangered seagrass in NSW estuaries
  • Does urbanisation impact the fragmentation of seagrass meadows?
  • Monitoring Oyster Reef Restoration in NSW

Congratulations to everyone that presented!

Watch this space for updates and access to these presentations in the future.

Thank you to AMSA2022 for this opportunity for our staff to share their work in all aspects of coastal, estuarine and marine management, science and research, which is supported by the NSW Marine Estate Management Strategy.
