Learn about the marine estate
The NSW marine estate covers around 1 million hectares of estuary and ocean including tidal rivers, estuaries, shorelines, submerged lands, offshore islands and the coastal waters between the Queensland and Victorian borders, out to three nautical miles offshore.
The area incorporates a number of spaces - Marine Parks and Aquatic Reserves - that have increased protections to help conserve marine biodiversity.
